17/09/14 – SCJFC move into open age football…

We are proud to announce that the new Sale Communities JFC ‘Open Age’ team is now an official member of the Altrincham Sunday League.

As part of the ongoing development of the club, the ability for usto be able to encourage young adults to stay active within the club was an invaluable target set by the members when the club was founded. This has now been achieved with the award of a grant from the Sale Moor Community Partnership’s Youth Bank Project.

SMYB Logo 2014-15-hiresThe Sale Moor Youth Bank is a grant making organisation led by local young people and for the benefit of the child & youth community in the Sale Moor ward. The grant funding is funded by Trafford Partnership and the operation of the Youth Bank is funded by Sale Community Panel. The Sale Moor Community Partnership facilitates the day-day operation of the Youth Bank.

The club will be using the funds to provide training and match facilities, training equipment and match kit so that the squad can set themselves up for the next few years with the sole aim of becoming a self sufficient part of the club within 2 years.

The current squad includes 9 members of the 2013/13 Youth Team who joined the club when it was formed 5 years ago as U14’s so we are especially pleased to see the lads return to the club after a 2 year absence. In addition to the obvious benefit of having a channel for our Youth Team to move up to open age football, several of the squad will also be involved in coaching our junior members, again a positive learning tool for the lads involved. This fits perfectly with our vision of ‘full circle’ where we can hopefully keep kids involved in the club from the age of 4 up to, well any age!

So, massive thanks to the SMCP Youth Bank for their support, we will keep you and all our members posted on the development of this project.
